Well now he’s just messing with us…

Check out this clip from the Blu-Ray version of Return of the Jedi. Now with 100% more “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”
That’s right, Lucas loved Vader screaming “NOOOOOOOOO!” in ROTS so much he decided to dub it in to the penultimate scene of the original trilogy. Oh but he didn’t stop there…the power of CGI and re-edits have led to a few other wonky changes:
- CGI Yoda has replaced puppet Yoda in Phantom Menace, to be honest I didn’t even remember that Yoda was a puppet in Phantom Menace. I am more surprised that he didn’t replace Yoda in Empire too.
- Jabba’s door at the beginning of ROTJ is now approximately the size of the Great Wall of China and can be seen from space…
- A random scene of R2 on Tatooine has had additional rock coverings added in making it physically impossible for him to be where he is.
- A bunch of Tie Fighters have been added into the space battle of ROTJ, because apparently it didn’t seem like a big enough deal that the rebels overcame the empire before…
- Obi Wan’s classic scream to scare off the Sand People has been amped up to 11…I have no idea what the thought was here…
- Last but certainly not least…the Ewoks have had CGI eyelids added…and they now blink. Let me repeat that because it bears repeating…EWOKS NOW BLINK!!!!
Obviously Lucas can do whatever the heck he wants with his films and nothing is really shocking anymore, its just that some of these changes are so random and appear to be done just for the heck of it. Back when he made the special editions he had always taken the stance that he was changing the films because technology limited his vision but I’m pretty dang sure technology didn’t limit his ability to dub in “NOOOOOOOOOO”. At this point I wish he would just decide to remake the original trilogy and get it over with but I guess he has to make the 3d versions first and then wait 10 years to maximize the profits…

So in what took you so long news we finally have the first pic of Selina Kyle aka Catwoman from the upcoming Dark Knight Rises movie and its…well…
it’s just Anne Hathaway in a black jumpsuit…with a really odd, non cat looking, blue lightup goggle thingy on her face…
I mean what else do you want me to say? I guess at this point I’m hoping they don’t even call her Catwoman because if this is what she is going to look like she’s not. Might as well be Black Widow…then again everyone is willing to bend over backwards to give Nolan the benefit of the doubt and will sing the praises of the movie before it even comes out. But after the Bane reveal, rumored Knightfall/Azrael story that has someone else in the batsuit and now this…I’m beginning to question it…but maybe he wants me to question it? I mean are we in the dream of a dream of a dream right now? Did the top stop spinning!?!?! WHY NOLAN WHY!?!?!

So with the exact opposite of fanfare the first picture of Henry Cavill as Superman in the Superman Reboot Reboot movie leaked on an unsuspecting public today and I only have two comments…
- These British actors have got to stop taking over our superheroes…they have way too much hair. First Andrew Garfield ruins my belief in Spidey by making it impossible to actually stuff his massive mane under that mask and now Henry Cavill shows up sporting a 70′s style half balding/half mushroom coiff that would make Nicolas Cage proud…if he still had that much hair anyway.
-Holy cape Superman…seriously I think Supes has been hanging with the caped crusader just a little too long. There must be an extra 3 or 4 feet of material at the bottom of that cape. Is this the wedding Superman costume so he needs a Super-train?
I guess I should just be thankful it looks like Superman…as opposed to the weird fiber-optic/holographic silver plastic number Tim Burton was working with on the failed Superman Lives/Nicolas Cage project from the late 90′s.
I just referenced Nicolas Cage twice in one post, if you think I’m not pleased about that you don’t know me very well

I don’t know what to make of this new Spidey reboot. I don’t particularly care for the new suit. The actor doesn’t seem to fit Peter Parker (and has alot of hair!). And then there is this trailer…which sure feels like Spider-man and all but I can’t help but think its missing something…and adding things it doesn’t need (Mr. and Mrs. Parker for example)…
I’ll continue to reserve my judgment.

Just wanted to pass this along…if you happen to believe the rumors on the interwebs it appears that CBS is throwing a bit of a red herring out there with their list of dynamic duos as some of the returning houseguests are not on the list. The rumors are leading to the following duos…
From Season 8 – Dick and Eric
From Season 11 – Jeff and Jordan
From Season 12 – Lane and Britney
These are of course unconfirmed rumors however it appears that all of the houseguests have been sequestered so I wouldn’t be surprised for confirmations to leak out before Thursday’s premiere. There is also alot of chatter for Rachel and Brendon from season 12 as I guess they moved their wedding back from September (oh come on get married in the house!) so thats a sure fire sign that they are on the show or something…
If you can believe him, Dr Will posted a letter today denying he is part of the show. Of course he’s a bit of a pathological liar so who knows.

So here we are once again kicking off another summer and what reality tv show says summer quite like another fun filled season of Big Brother! Ah but before you get your hopes up read on…
Today the official media buzz kicked into high gear for the 13th season (in the US at least) as we started seeing pictures of the same old house with a new coat of paint (seriously what do they use the set for the rest of the year?!?!? Is it that hard to build a new set?) and interviews started droppin revealing juicy tidbits. Its possible by the time you read this the cast will be unveiled and I’m sure we’ll have yet another season of bimbos and mimbos to dread.
But this season may be even worse. You see Julie Chen in an interview today revealed that “Dynamic Duo’s from the past will play a significant role”. Oh yes folks, duos from the past…please oh please let this not be Jessie and Natalie…in fact I don’t think I really want to see anyone brought back so here is for hoping anyone from the past is not a contestant. If we are lucky this just means that some of the houses guests know each other from the past before coming into the house. Ah who am I kidding, with this shows track record its going to be the worst possible thing…
Lil Lantern

From what I hear this might be better then the actual Green Lantern movie…
On an unrelated side note…I have a hard time spelling lantern for some reason…probably because I’m inclined to pronounce it LA-Tern and thus drop the “n”…I promise that’s less racist then it sounds…
Avengers Assemble

So the Licensing International Expo kicks off in Las Vegas this week and thats notable only because several, extremely early, rough marketing promo posters make their waaaay too early debuts. Of course being the age of the internet the show hasn’t even started yet and already images are leaking online. Of particular note to movie/comic nerds everywhere is the first poster of the Avengers:
Whew where to start…
- Its safe to assume for merchandising purposes that Iron Man will sport slight variations to his armor at least a couple of times in every movie he is in. That seems to be backed up with this image that features a return to the circle chest glowy thing and a spattering of silver bits throughout the shoulders.
- If you squint Hawkeye (the dude with the bow and arrows) looks a bit like Breckin Meyer or is that just me?
- This poster was obviously designed by Rob Liefield, 6 characters and only two feet are showing. Okay make that two and a half, there is a tiny bit of Iron Toe showing. Of particular bad note is Thor whose feet just disappear through some magic portal in Iron Man’s hand/foot back to Narnia, Asgaard, Never Never Land or whatever fantasy world they came from.
- Speaking of Thor, I haven’t seen the movie yet but is it common for his hammer to turn Smurfy when struck by lightning? Smurfin Smurf of Thunder indees. Thor is the one thing that seems really off for a movie adaptation of this team. Iron Man, Black Widow and Hawkeye are all very much grounded in reality. So to is Captain America to a lesser extend. Hulk is forgivable because he’s CGI but Thor? Just feels really out of place.
- I have to say Captain America’s modern costume is not too bad all things considered.
- 4 of these characters can’t fly, three if you count the fact that Hulk can jump really really far. I can forgive Captain America and Black Widow because they at least look all actiony like they jumped out of a plane or something, but Hawkeye looks like he’s just hanging out squatting on Captain America’s back or maybe Hulks knee…
Overall its not a bad first take on the Avengers but I’ll continue with my reservations. I’ve feared this movie all along because of my reality take above. The Avengers seems like such a fantasy concept to rope together with the very much based in reality Iron Man movies (and what looks to be very based in reality Captain America). I hear Thor was a great movie don’t get me wrong, will just be interesting to see how they bring this all together.
