Oklahoma City Blunder

Did you know the NBA is letting an NBDL team play up this year?  At least that is what the identity package of the Oklahoma City Thunder appears to portray.  I don’t want to spend a lot of time on this because it doesn’t deserve it.  The images speak for themselves.

Uni-forum: Timberwolves clean it up

This has been out for a while but the Minnesota Timberwolves cleaned up their logo as well as introduced new unis as part of celebrating 20 years.  The design is a collaboration between Addidas and the Wovles.  The changes to the logo are subtle but overall I think they did a great job.  The wordmark is less ”fangy” and changed the letters from blue to white and the trees have been leveled out.  They removed most of the trees from the collar which is a good move but they put them on the jersey and shorts.  Those insertions are supposed to create a “W” on the jersey and an “M” on the shorts.  This is the third uniform design over the history of the franchise and probably the best yet.  Overall I give it a B.

UNC – Slightly new look

The Heels recently held a senior photo shoot where the newish unis were unveiled.  I say new but really the concept is still the same.  They only modified two things.  First, they got rid of the “tight-fit” top.  Second, they chose a v-neck rather than the crew cut, tight-neck look from last year.  Apparently Roy Williams was instrumental in persuading Nike to bring back the v-neck.  I didn’t think it was that big a deal.  The Heels will still have the best uni in all of sports and their play this year will make it look even better.  Go HEELS!

DSi…Dual Screen investigators?

cont_ts_01_black_cg_0845823543_0102.jpg

Well its official, Nintendo has revealed the brand spanking new DSi handheld.  Here is a quick summary of the new specs:

  • Two built in cameras
  • 12% thinner then the DS Lite (comes at the cost of the GBA slot, no more old schoolin)
  • Music Playback
  • Internal Storage (no word on how much)
  • SD Card slot for additional storage
  • Slightly larger screens (3.25 inches)
  • Photo Synching with the Wii photo channel
  • Free web browsing via Wi Fi
  • DSi Shop (buy games and applications directly over Wi Fi

Nintendo is calling the DSi a “third platform” but really its so similar to a DS I’m not sure who they are trying to fool with that.  It will launch November 1 in Japan in black and white colors (I chose the black for the pic above because it showed up better then the white) and will retail for approximately $178 US.  No word on the US release other then sometime 2009.
