A Giant win and a sore loser

All is right in the football world.  The wicked witch (aka, the smug Patriots) is dead and there was much rejoicing across the land.  What a great game.  I thought the Giants could win if they played a perfect game but their defense played out of their minds and the Pats never really got it going more than the short gains by Welker and co.  But that isn’t what this post is about.  There was a lot of confusion at the end of the game as to whether time had expired.  So much so that the ever graceful coach hoodie decided that the game was over and after shaking hands with Coughlin, left the field and didn’t see the last play of the game.  What a pathetic loser!  There was even a game official trying to get him to return to the sideline until it was officially over and then shake hands but he had apparently had enough.  It was a good teaching moment for my son though.  His example showed how NOT to act after a loss.  I wasn’t the only one to notice this action, there is a report up on Yahoo that describes it quite well.

Congrats Giants!  You will always have a soft spot in my heart for knocking out the Patsies.

Flight of the Dynamite…or Napoleon Conchord?

In what can only be deemed as an inevitable meeting of the minds, Jemaine Clement (one half of the popular guitar-based digi-bongo-acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo Flight of the Conchords) has signed on to star in a new movie to be written and directed by Jared Hess, the mind behind Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre.

Jemaine will play a famous author who attends a summer camp for amateur writers and rips off a story from a high school  outcast.

COBRA NEGRA!!!

Or at least thats what I imagine newly acquired LA Laker Pau Gasol would call Kobe Bryant seeing as hes a Spaniard. Thats right the Lakers have pulled the trigger and picked up Gasol, the oft trade mentioned All Star forward from the Grizzlies. And what did they give up? Essentially Kwame Brown, assuming the first round draft picks in 08 & 10 don’t come back to bite them (i haven’t heard if they are lottery protected).

So as a die hard Laker fan how do I feel about this move? Well it was definately a panick move however the Lakers got the good end of this deal. Gasol is far and away a better player then Kwame (and his Pokadelik Adventure, bonus points if you get that reference) had any right to be but I don’t see how an offensive minded big man fits into this Laker team. Still with the rash of injuries plaguing the lake show something had to be done to stop the bleeding and I feel much better with a positive player like Gasol on the team then a possible malcontent like Jermaine O’Neal.

The real story is the rumor floating around about the Famar for Kidd trade. My thoughts? Hang onto the kid, like Bynum he is going to pay off.
