Well if you didn’t watch Dancing with the starts last night, well I can’t blame you neither did I. I tried, my saved by the bell past casued me to check in on Slaters progress (on a side note, how long before he busts out and becomes Hollywood’s latest gay reveal?) but I could not endure the show. So if, like me, you didn’t watch then you likely missed out on the first Nintendo Wii commercial. Well never fear fearless reader, I’ve got your back. Check out the link below for the commercial.
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a Nintendo fan boy, that said I think its a stroke of marketing genius. In one 30 second add Nintendo manages to display everything that the Wii is about while being both cute, cool and intriguing at the same time. Unlike the confusing PS3 ads (a baby doll with devil eyes?!?!). This is the system Mom and Dad non-gamer are going to wind up buying little Bobby and Cindy this Christmas. Not the half-ton killing machines of the PS3 and X360.
Don’t get me wrong, if I thought I could actually go out tomorrow and get me a PS3 I’d be inclined to do it. I’d even contemplated buying a 360 but I’m not the typical gamer.
I really think this system might do excatly what it says, get EVERYONE to play video games. I doubt it will win in the hardware wars because the hardcore gamers are geeks for shiny graphics, but I think when the smoke clears we will be viewing the Wii in much the same light as the DS, a system that changed everything we think about video games.
