Old School Wrassler of the week
This week our old school wreslter, or make that wreslters, of the week this week are one of the great forgotten tag teams of the
WWF, DEMOLITION.
Here come the Ax, Here comes the Smasher, Demolition is a walking disaster. I can still hear the lyrics fondly in my mind.
I still remember the first time I saw Demolition, destroying a couple of jobbers on the weekly Wrestling Challenge or WWF Superstars show back when I first started watching wrestling in the 80′s. Sure they were Vince McMahon’s knock off of the Road Warriors because he couldn’t sign them but Demolition became so much more then that in the eyes of most fans and their stay at the top of the tag team ranks for years proves it. Sadly, when the Legion of Doom finally made their way to the WWF Vince dropped his imitations like a bad habit and kicked them to the curb. Now, two decades after their leather clad masks made their way to the ring for the first time Demolition is little more then a memory.
It’s likely to stay that way after law suits between Vince and Bill Eadie (better known as Ax) have most likely left Vince with a bitter taste in his mouth. Seems like they may be part of that group of wreslters who will never get their due in the grand scheme of things.
